Double Feature: short couture dress

This short couture dress is like wearing art. A masterpiece in motion is what I see in this Chloe Short couture dress. Leighton Meester wore it the way I think it should be represented, with that stylish slip-through clutch. The handbag matched the dress perfectly in its unique style and in color. Howard Stern Ostrosky’s wife wore a similar Chloe colorblock dress, but I like the way Leighton rock her dress. What do you think?

The Olsen Twins will debut their own jewelry line

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen started out with a tween empire worth $1 billion. Now they’re setting their sights on the grownup world, starting with their first love for fashion.

The Olsen twins have created a fashion jewelry collection through Robert Lee Morris under the brand Elizabeth and James.

“We’ve always done our own thing and sometimes people appreciate it or they don’t, or it’s shocking or it’s not,” said Ashley, who the night before being interviewed appeared in New York at the Council of Fashion Designers of America Fashion Awards draped in an oversize black Calvin Klein Collection suit. “We don’t follow the trends of other people. We’ve never had stylists, we do our own thing. So when you find individuals like that, especially in the fashion industry, people pay attention. Whether they agree with it or not is a different story.”

“We both have a love for accessories and they’ve always been important to us from Day One,” Mary-Kate said. “They can help make an outfit or make you feel different. Maybe a ring brings you good luck, or you got it as a present and it means so much to you. It’s a feeling that you get when you put on something that is special.”

Hitting stores in September, Robert Lee Morris for Elizabeth and James consists of 80-plus styles, including thick metal cuffs and rings, earrings and necklaces accented with turquoise beading, crosses and daggers. The collection is meant to be mixed and matched and retails from $65 to $700.

“We liked the idea of having playful elements along with timeless and ageless pieces,” Ashley said. “The symbols are attachable and you can take the jewelry and make it your own. There are solid silver and gold pieces to wear forever and comfort pieces that you’ll put on and wear everywhere.”

The Olsen twins have been super successful marketing to little girls into dolls… nowadays they’re known for celebrity drama and kooky getups. Do you think they’ll be able to sell grownups on a jewelry line?

Lohan Befriends Pop Star Allen

Hollywood star Lindsay Lohan has struck up an unlikely friendship – with British pop star Lily Allen
The pair was spotted chatting and laughing together over dinner with their mutual pal DJ Samantha Ronson at Il Sole restaurant in Los Angeles on Monday.
But Allen only mentioned the Mean Girls star in passing – without saying her name – when she blogged about her dinner date on Tuesday.
She writes: "I came back to the hotel at about 7 and went straight to dinner with my number one fan and avid reader of my blog Samantha. We went to this place called Il Sole, the food? amazing. I love truffles, big time, and they didn’t dissapoint. Samantha brought a rather famous friend with her and about 50 million paparazzi."
Allen is currently in the U.S. to finish recording her as-yet-untitled second album, which is due out later this year. The Smile singer is friends with Ronson through her producer Mark Ronson – Samantha’s brother.

Agyness Rips it Up

While Agy has been dropped from Burberry (for apparently being over exposed), and ends up in our Celebrity… What The? thread, she’s also sporting a trend we’ve been seeing a little bit of lately – ready to take a guess? It’s the ripped denim trend of course.

So is it good or is adding to her uhhh… over exposure? Also does it look better on Natasha Poly?

Supermodel Adriana Lima Engaged to Basketball Star

Brazilian supermodel Adriana Lima received an engagement ring Thursday night – her birthday – from basketball star Marko Jaric, his rep tells PEOPLE.

"He asked and she said yes. They are both incredibly happy and couldn’t be more in love," says publicist James Weir.
Lima, who turned 27 on Thursday, and Jaric, 29, who plays for the Minnesota Timberwolves, have been dating for about nine months.
The normally stoic Serb sports star has admitted he fell hard for the Victoria’s Secret beauty.
"I was not the person to fall in love easily. I am a difficult person from that standpoint," he told PEOPLE in March. "Now, it’s a little different situation."

Amy Winehouse plays private Moscow gig for Roman Abramovich

Chanteuse Amy Winehouse has sung all over the world. Now she can add a Moscow bus shelter to her list of glamorous venues.
Back To Black star Amy performed her one-off private gig last Thursday to celebrate the opening of a new art gallery set up by Daria Zhukova, the girlfriend of Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich.
The troubled diva was reportedly paid £1 million for her one-hour set, with Chelsea FC owner Roman flying her to the event in his private jet.
Hosted by beautiful brunette Daria, a former model, 300 celebrities and famous faces from the art world gathered for the glitzy inauguration of The Garage. The building was a former bus shelter and is twice the size of a football pitch.
"Amy thoroughly enjoyed herself," said the singer’s spokesman.
"She was very happy to play her part in the restoring of such a great building to its future use as a space for contemporary art."

Hitlist: celebrity degrees

As Dame Vivienne Westwood prepares to put down her knitting needles to receive an honorary degree at Dundee University this week, Hitlist toasts four other famous recipients of certificates to hang in the loo.

Jeremy Clarkson

Clarkson is the proud recipient of not one but two degrees, the first in 2003 from Brunel University, the second in 2005 from Oxford Brookes, the ceremony for which was overshadowed when eco-mentalists threw a custard pie in his face. With a third honorary qualification, he says he will become the Three Degrees.

Robert Mugabe

The Zimbabwean president must have seemed a decent sort when Edinburgh University awarded him an honorary degree for services to education in Africa in 1984. Unsurprisingly, it was revoked last year.

Cat Stevens

Stevens, or Yusuf Islam to his friends, was one of many celebrity graduates at Exeter University last July. Also honoured were Brian May, Jonathan Dimbleby and the married couple Jennifer Saunders and Adrian Edmondson.

Fred Talbot

The former weatherman was the court jester of daytime TV in the 1980s and 1990s thanks to his bounding-about on a floating map of the British Isles moored outside the This Morning studios in Liverpool. Recognition came last year when he was made a doctor of science at Manchester Metropolitan University.
